About Us
Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC) is a Cornish charity dedicated to working with, and strengthening, Cornish communities; and to supporting vulnerable groups and individuals within them. We run a wide variety of projects across Cornwall:
We do it because there are gaps in services; because people fall through the various strands of government support; because some people find it hard to get their voices heard; because volunteers in our communities should not be left without support; and because there is simply a demand from people for the services we offer. Our philosophy is simple: we help communities to help themselves.
We are an independent charitable company founded in 1946 and established as a company limited by guarantee in 2001. We have a board of volunteer trustees, 25 strong, which oversees our activities, and nearly sixty staff. We raise funds from many sources, mostly outside Cornwall. For more details, you can search for our entry in the register of charities by following this link. CRCC’s main office is at 2 Princes Street, Truro. Find Us
CRCC is one of a network of 38 Rural Community Councils (RCCs), all sharing the aim of promoting any charitable purpose for the benefit of rural communities. RCCs maintain close relations with national and local government, but are independent organisations with a separate role to play in promoting rural needs to all agencies. We are represented at a national level by ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England – LINK) and in the region by SWAN (the South West network of RCCs).
