These events are being organised by CRCC in partnership with CCC's Department of Adult and Social Care (DASC) Training Unit. The events are appropriate for Chief Executives and Trustees within the Voluntary and Community Sector and will focus on:

  • What is meant by Safeguarding Adults?
  • The role and responsibilities of Trustees and Chief Executives within voluntary organisations with regard to Safeguarding Adults.
  • An overview of Cornwall’s multi-agency Safeguarding Adults policy
  • Implementing policies and procedures within individual agencies.
  • Training, Learning and Development for staff and volunteers with regard to Safeguarding Adults.

The Voluntary and Community Sector in Cornwall provides substantial support in a variety of ways to adults whose independence and well-being would be at risk without their services.

Working in partnership with Cornwall Rural Community Council, the Safeguarding Adults Board for Cornwall is holding a number of events throughout the county to highlight the responsibilities all agencies have with regard to Safeguarding Adults.

Safeguarding Adults work is based on communication across agency boundaries and it is important that all partner agencies have a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities with regard to Cornwall’s Multi-Agency Policy on Safeguarding Adults.

Village of the Year Presentations

The Village of the Year presentations will be held on the afternoon of Friday 29 August 2008 at the CRCC's head office.

Cornwall Rural Community Council has been organising the Cornwall Village of the Year Competition for three years. The competition invites entries from any organisation to enter their own village. Entrants are judged on a number of categories that focus on all aspects of a thriving community including activities, services and general well-being.

Previous winners of the competition have been Constantine – 2006, and Grampound – 2007. Grampound recently won the south west regional round, and they now go onto be judged at a national level.
