The Cornwall County Playing Fields Association (CCPFA), which is administered by the Cornwall Rural Community Council, will be presenting cheques totalling £60,000 to Cornish play areas across Cornwall. The presentation will take place at the CCPFA’s AGM, which starts at 7pm, on Tuesday 10 November at the Lakeview Country Club, Lanivet.
Two of the successful projects receiving awards of £10,000 are Trescobeas Community Play Park, near Falmouth, for a 5 year project to provide both play and sport facilities on an old landfill site, also Harrowbarrow and Metherill Woodland Park and Play Area which is providing play equipment on a newly prepared play area. The remaining £40,000 has been awarded in smaller amounts and split amongst 18 other deserving Cornish play projects.
Sharon Davey, Secretary says "The CCPFA is fully aware of the important role that community recreation areas play and hopes that the £60,000 will be a small way in helping to raise the profile of play across the county and support local communities deliver play projects".
